The Swedex Project The Swedex examinations were developed within the framework of a Lingua 2 project, co-financed by the SOCRATES Programme of the European Commission. It was co-ordinated by the International Certificate Conference with partners in Sweden, Germany and Poland. The project, which was concluded by 31 December 2003, developed the exam format, specifications and mock examinations at the levels A2 and B1 according to the level of attainment scales of the Council of Europe. Video recordings of oral tests were also produced. Before the test format was decided on, there was an extensive piloting throughout Europe. Around 800 people took part in the piloting. Many of those answered a questionnaire about why they studied Swedish etc. The names and addresses of the project partners can be found under Project partners. An overview of the specifications can be found on the web site and the
different parts of the specifications can be downloaded.
